Privacy policy
Morning Post is a personal, self-hosted app. It runs on its owner's computer and is used only by its owner; there are no other users and no Morning Post servers. This policy covers the Google data it handles when its owner connects a Google account.
What it reads
- YouTube (read-only,
youtube.readonly): the owner's channel name, the channels the owner subscribes to, and the new videos of the channels added to Morning Post, such as their titles, descriptions, durations and thumbnails. To summarize a video it also reads the video's public captions. - Gmail (read-only,
gmail.readonly): the account's email address, the names of its labels (to find the label “Morning Post”), and the messages that carry that label: sender, subject, date and body text. Messages without the label are never read. Morning Post cannot send, change or delete mail.
How it is used
Only to build the owner's daily edition: to list the channels and senders the owner can add, and to summarize their new items.
Where it is kept
In a database on the owner's computer. Google sign-in tokens are stored encrypted.
Who it is shared with
To write summaries, Morning Post sends the text it summarizes to the AI model service its owner has configured; that service's own terms govern what it keeps. Nothing is sold, used for advertising or shared with anyone else, and Morning Post has no analytics or tracking.
Keeping and deleting it
Data stays on the owner's computer until the owner deletes it. Disconnecting a source in Morning Post deletes its stored sign-in. Google access can be revoked at any time under Third-party apps & services in your Google Account.
